Earthquake Response 2015
On 25th April 2015, Nepal was rocked by a 7.6 Magnitude earthquake followed by a strong aftershock of 7.3 Magnitude in 12th May 2015. This caused widespread fear and countless casualties including 9000+ deaths and countless severe and casual injures. Thousands of families lost their homes and property, most importantly – their family members. In the aftermath of the earthquake, Yuwalaya was engaged in the humanitarian response work, mainly to aware local communities about various effects of earthquake, possible spread of epidemics and ways to prevent them as well as to collect voices/stories of children and adolescents.
The “Humanitarian Assistance Project” was implemented with support of UNICEF Nepal in coordination with the Changa Monthly Magazine.
Target Areas:
10 VDCs each of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Dhading, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchwok, Nuwakot, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Dolakha and Gorkha district
