Grassroots Action to End Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM)

Yuwalaya as the Secretariat for Girls Not Brides Nepal is leading the project entitled “Grassroots Action to End Child, Early, and Forced Marriage (CEFM)” under USAID/Save the Children/CWIN started on 10th September and was completed by 31 December, 2024. The project has focused on Madhesh Province, especially on Mahottari and Sarlahi districts. The primary beneficiaries of the project include Federal Policy Makers: Engaged with federal-level parliamentarians, ministries, and advocacy groups to push for stronger enforcement mechanisms on CEFM which is around 200+ in numbers. Similarly, the project also engages with provincial government officials, policy-makers, and as primary beneficiaries. agencies to influence regional policies on child marriage and adolescent rights. (200+) However, the secondary beneficiaries of the project are adolescent girls and boys expecting a reach to around 1000+ adolescents. The project envisions to support Grassroots CSOs to engage in and implement high-quality, gender- transformative programming and advocacy that contribute to a reduction in the prevalence of CEFM and increased support for women and girls who experience or are at risk of CEFM.
