
Youth-led initiatives for COVID Recovery Strategies and Action in Nepal implemented in partnership with Oxfam in Nepal and European Union aims to promote active youth participation in fostering gender equality and social inclusion during the post COVID recovery of Nepal. The project focuses on empowering youths to engage in advocacy, communication and policy dialogue by strengthening youth capacities to exercise their rights and creating opportunities for collective youth action. The project’s overall goal was to promote youth voice and engagement in Nepal’s post-COVID recovery and development process and capacitate youth and young women, to increase their human capital. The project considered youths, marginalized community and Gender Based Violence survivor as the primary beneficiaries whereas as the secondary beneficiaries. The outputs of the project were:
- Strengthen the knowledge, capacity and skills of 1000 Youth, young women and their agency to advance their rights on GESI, SRHR, Youth participation and leadership, decent work, Life skill, GBV and climate change.
- Collective actions led by youth and their network (campaigns and influencing) against GBV, harmful social norms, discrimination, decent work for advancing gender equality and social inclusion.
- Building and strengthening engagement of men and boys challenging GBV and harmful social norms, promoting positive modelling on gender equality and valuing care work
- Youth network formation and Youth Sounding board establishment and linkage with National youth council.
- Round table discussion of youth at local, provincial and federal level on issues concerning youth, their participation, gender responsive budget, budget and program for youths.
- Development and Endorsement of GESI policy and municipal youth council guideline at municipalities
- Local government, financial institutions, cooperatives strengthen their program, business portfolio supporting youth and young women, GBV survivors and migrants’ families.
